Short Story #108

Cake cutting. The most violent part of the night.

I equate this to an adult version of a snowball fight. As we age we are constantly told to wipe our mouths, not to play with our food, and worst of all have a parent lick their finger and clean your face with it. Gross! My point is after so much repression it is no wonder why an all out cake fight would break out in the middle of such a special occasion while wearing the most expensive clothes you have ever worn. But I love it. What is more beautiful than a woman who puts appearance aside and just goes for it.

The elements of this story.

A mouthful: Its not hard to notice the huge smile with a mouthful of cake. Talk about living in the moment. By this you can tell exactly how spontaneous the brawl was as she didn't even take the time to swallow her cake first.

Fist of fury: We see determination. So much that the brides hand contracts and makes a fist. This is her moment and she will not surrender to the strength of opposition, or in this case her newly crowned husband.

Laughter: Check out those family members in the background laughing away. This reassures you that this is in fact a happy moment. I bet most are rooting for the bride. I cant help but to imagine how excited they are for the moment while at the same time hoping they keep their distance.

Thank you so much for taking the time to open yourself up to this short story. As always, it is my intention to help show others there is so much more to just liking a photo. Its important that we find pieces of ourselves in others photographs.
